Dr. Hyojin Rhim has been acclaimed for her profound musical intelligence and poetic use of colors. Dr. Rhim has actively performed as a concert pianist and a chamber musician throughout the United States, Germany, Austria, and South Korea and won prizes at numerous international competitions. She has been featured in various recitals including concerts at the Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Yamaha Salon, Kaufman music center, MLK auditorium, Albert Hall, Druker Auditorim, Hunneman Hall and Jordan Hall. Recently she performed in Spain and Germany as a 1st prize winner of international competition; she also gave a solo recital at the Steinway Hall in New York.
She commands a broad range of repertoires from Baroque to living composers, continuing her projects on German Romanticism, and contemporary repertoires by living composers. Her recent performances featured pieces by R. Muczynski(Polish-American composer 1929-2010), Paul Schoenfield(American living composer 1947-), Yuko Uebayashi(Japaness/French living female composer) with professor Carol Wincenc at Julliard, Guillaume Connesson(French living composer, 1970-), and Richard Cornell(American Living composer).
As an artist director of New York Classical Forum, she is organizing various settings of classical concerts in greater New York area. Recently she appeared as a guest artist at 14th international summer festival at Gould Academy in ME. She is directing 2019-2020 concert series including Videri string quartet, Chamber ensemble, Piano Duo and her solo recitals.
Dr. Rhim holds her Doctor of Musical arts in piano performance from Boston University. She received her Master of Music in piano performance from New England Conservatory of music as a recipient of Joni/Weinstock scholarship. She earned her Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Ewha Women University. She studied with Gila Goldstein, Maria-Clodes Jaguaribe, Veronica Jochum, Tamara Poddubnaya and Mi Kyoung Kim. She participated in master classes with John Perry, Richard Goode, Pavel Nerssesian, and Alexander Korsantia.
As an educator and a scholar, She joins as a piano adjunct assistant professor at Molloy College from september 2019 and she serve as a jury member of international competitions. She is affiliated with College of Music Society and MTNA, and regularly participated in regional and national conferences.
